Trauma
Osteopathy Barral's volume - Trauma
The volume, well documented and richly illustrated, opens with an overview of the biomechanics of trauma. The authors demonstrate how an osteopathic-based mechanical approach to trauma can be applied to the entire body, with particular attention to the so-called "whiplash" phenomenon. Chapter 2, however, deals with the anatomical-functional approach, focusing above all on the skull and the central nervous system, as well as on the structures that surround and protect the skull. Finally, in chapter 3, the authors address trauma from the point of view of the effects on different tissues and systems of the organism, including the osteoarticular, visceral and vascular systems. After having thus exposed an osteopathic interpretation of trauma, Barral and Croibier apply their original methods of osteopathic diagnosis to those structures most often affected by trauma: cranial sutures, craniofacial membranous system, mediatine and spleen. The work concludes with a description of the manual techniques developed by the authors to treat some of the most stubborn after-effects of trauma. Book composed of:
