This volume is the fourth in the series dedicated to the osteopathic implications of internal organ dysfunction. In particular, this volume is dedicated to the pelvis, especially female.
The Introduction provides an overview of the relationships between the pelvis and the spine. Also presented in detail are some tests that are particularly useful for identifying pelvic disorders, including genitohumeral disorders as well as comprehensive Laségue tests. Imaging studies demonstrating the usefulness of the manipulative approach to the pelvis are also presented.
Chapter 2 is dedicated to the bladder and in particular to the treatment of stress incontinence and the effects of the various compression systems of the lower pelvis. The role of bladder restrictions in cases of low back pain, leg problems and hip pain is explained. Chapter 4 concludes the study of the female pelvis with the Fallopian tubes and ovaries. The holistic point of view of osteopathy is perfectly conveyed by Barral's presentation of the various elements that must work in harmony for fertilization to occur.
